COLLECTION METHODOLOGY

Family and Community Services (FACS) domestic and family violence statistics has been produced and processed from data sources and client information systems. FACS operates a number of client information systems and associated data warehouses/repositories to store key performance data used to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

DEFINITION OF FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Domestic and family violence is defined as violence between people who are or were in a domestic relationship, whether a family member, intimate partner or housemate. This includes violence that occurred outside of the home and the exercise of controlling behaviours, including fear, isolation, reproductive coercion and physical, sexual, financial, emotional, psychological, spiritual or cultural abuse.
